Phusrey (Mulkharka/ Manokamna/Dolma) Lake

Phusrey Lake (also known as Mulkharka, Manokamna or Dolma lake) is a natural lake tucked in a remote corner of the forests situated at an altitude of about 7500 feet in the mid-Himalyan belt of Kalimpong district of West Bengal. The Lake considered sacred by the localsis also known as Mulkharka or Manokamana (Wishing) pokhari in Nepali. It is also known as Phusrey pokhari in Nepali meaning grayish or dull in colour. The lake is renowned for its reflection of mesmerizing Mount Kanchenjunga (the world's third highest mountain peak) on its tranquil waters which is also known as The Kanchenjunga Mirror. This lake is surrounded by pine trees which give shelters to hundreds of species of butterflies, flowers and exotic pretty birds thus a hot spot for birding enthusiasts. It is a place where nature meets spirituality. The lake can also prove to be an exciting trekking destination for trekking enthusiasts who can relish spectacular views from ‘Ramitey View Point' which falls midway to the Lake. This hypnotic Lake is only around fourty minutes' drive from our homestay.
